In these very interesting times, people come up with actually interesting ways to contribute to the health of their communities. Before I share the link, Terry is (was?) an actual real-world amusement park designer whose true love is making, talking about, and playing girly games. Clearly, this why I've been following her YouTube channel!
Now, I'll let her speak for herself: YouTube Link - I'm quitting my job to make free games for a year
If you've got time, go watch that, talk amongst yourselves...and we're back! Clearly, she's doing a daring thing which will likely end in her being out a lot of personal resources by the end of the year, but she's fully aware of that. I think the way that she's approaching making games with precise real-world targets in her local community is an amazing idea, even if it's not likely to be "successful" for her financially.
This has got me a bit fired up! Not just in support of her project, which I think is awesome, but just thinking about that idea of doubling-down on using your passions to make the world a little less...the way it can be sometimes.
You know, mid-way through writing this I decided that it should also be a post on my blog, and so it will be. But I really wanted to write it here where I know a few people will actually see it and maybe think about it.

Re: Gaming For The Community
Awh this is really cute, and it's super fun get background is in amusement parks. There's a lot of community building stuff going in these days because it's so badly needed and people recognize that.
I hope it works out for her and she doesn't have to hustle TOO hard.
